Paint a Lazy Eyed Susan in 4 Easy Steps
A Mini Tutorial to Paint Bright, Beautiful Florals
Botanical illustration doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, you can tackle practically every kind of floral with minimal steps by embracing a looser, freer style of watercolour painting.
Today, I’m sharing a mini tutorial on how to paint Lazy Eyed Susans in four, easy steps!
But first, a few helpful tips:
Use a round brush that can hold water and paint well
Paint with bold and brave strokes
Allow some of the colours to bleed together for more interesting results
When you paint the petals, start with a light touch and increase pressure as you move the brush downwards to create a petal in one stroke
Leave some white space to allow the art to breathe and imply highlights
With the magic of water and a few bold strokes, you can have a gorgeous watercolour flower illustration. Paint a whole bunch and you’ll have a bright and happy bouquet of these lovely yellow blooms!
Happy Painting!
